Meet Maia

Maia Batumashvili is a children’s book illustrator from the charming country of Georgia, where mountains, folklore, and a love for animals filled her childhood with wonder. From an early age, she was inseparable from two things: a pencil in hand and a heart full of curiosity for the natural world. She studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, and by her second year, she had already stepped into the world of animation. While working at a studio, she also began illustrating for local publishing houses — a path that soon led her to collaborations with authors and publishers around the globe. Maia’s illustrations are known for their whimsical charm, vibrant colors, and uniquely expressive characters. Each piece feels like a window into a tender, imaginative world — one where stories bloom and feelings come alive. Drawing tiny worlds with a big heart — one page at a time.
